A podcast about leadership, service, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
Glorious Amateurs
Our roots at GORUCK are closely associated with US Army Special Forces, an organization that traces its lineage, in part, to the World War II Office of Strategic Services (OSS). The original members of the OSS were top line specialists in their profession or chosen field - hand-picked by the outfit’s founder, COL William “Wild Bill” Donovan, to jump out of airplanes behind enemy lines in Europe and Asia. They were called the “glorious amateurs” - ergo the first part of our podcast name - Glorious.
Quiet Professionals
The traditional role of Special Forces is to train foreign armies and indigenous personnel - the only arm of the military designed for this purpose. Working mostly in secret, unnoticed, and unrecognized operations they’re known as “the quiet professionals.” They personify unique capabilities, professional demeanor, and a commitment to excellence which leads to the second half of our podcast name - Professionals.
